Butter beans and methi

What a stunning dish.

The butter beans and methi combo first hit my radar a while ago, at Mirch Masala down in Norbury. Mirch was a Pakistani grill and karahi joint set up by the guys who had just sold up Karahi King in Wembley.

The team are serial restaurateurs and seem to have an attention span of about three years. After Mirch Masala (sold out and now a fledgling chain) they opened Five Hot Chillies in Sudbury (875 Harrow Road 020 8908 5900) - which is still going strong and still offers very good cooking. Now they have moved up the road and opened Nauroz, which may be in the wastelands near Pinner, but is handily placed next door to Eastcote tube station, making it both easy to find and accessible.

The restaurant is light, bright and unlicensed - but with a well-stocked offy nearby. The food is good, cheap and the spices are well-balanced (if you want dishes properly hot you can have them properly hot). The methi gosht is exemplary, fresh methi on the top. The lamb chops are good. The kebabs are good. The breads are particularly fine and that wonder dish - butter beans with methi - is present in all its glory. Hop on the tube to Eastcote and take your appetite.

I visited the restaurant with my family last week and the food was absolutely amazing. The service was the best I have seen for a long time and the place was comfortable and friendly. The food portions were sizzling hot and I absolutely loved the enourmous meals with perfect spicing.

Really good food. Take your own drink. Good mix of people visit the restaurant. Staff are friendly.
